LPG Conversion Training with MTA NSW

MTA NSW are currently running LPG  training courses.

The training will cover the necessary three (3) units of competence that relate to LPG service, repair and installation.

MTA NSW currently offers two LPG courses.  Depending on the level of skill and experience of the applicant, they can either enrol in our Level 1 or Level 3 courses:

  • Level 1 is for applicants wanting to learn LPG servicing, repair and installation and they have little or no skills and experience in this area.  This course is 6 days in length.
  • Level 3 is for applicants who are experienced and are currently practising LPG servicing, repair and installation, but are unlicensed.  This course does not provide any training, rather and assessment process is carried out to determine your competence.  This assessment process takes ½ day.

Important Note:  All applicants who wish to enrol in either LPG courses must be licensed with the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Authority (MVRIA) as a light vehicle motor mechanic.
If you are not a licensed light vehicle motor mechanic please indicate the license that you do hold on the application form and MTA NSW will contact you to discuss training options.
3rd and 4th year light vehicle mechanic apprentices are able to complete the training.  However you cannot apply for an LPG license until you are eligible to gain your unrestricted light vehicle mechanic license with the MVRIA.
If you are unsure about your license or would like more information, please contact the MTA Training Department on 02 9213 4222.
