Historically, training has been classroom based with little correlation with the workplace. For most employers this means that it is difficult to follow up on the individual needs of their apprentice.
MTA NSW will come to your workplace. Your trainee or apprentice will be visited by our qualified and experienced trainers/assessors at least every 6-8 weeks for trainees and every 4 weeks for apprentices. They will provide monitoring and one on one training, as well as providing guidance and support throughout the whole training delivery via telephone contact and emails.
As our qualified trainers/assessors are onsite, a new opportunity to become actively involved in training of your apprentices is created. Having our trainers/assessors at your workplace will also provide you with time to gather feedback about the progression and skills of your employee.
Our trainers combine not only years of experience in the automotive industry, some are also still currently involved in their field of expertise.
As our apprentices and trainees are trained in their workplace they are learning on the vehicles and technology available in their workplace.
MTA NSW is committed to providing a flexible training plan suited to your business. If you have more that one apprentice or trainee, MTA NSW can work with your business to customise the training delivery to meet your needs. Otherwise individual one- on-one training and support is provided to each apprentice or trainee.
As part of the training delivery provided by MTA NSW we will supply all apprentices and trainees with self paced learning resources that have been developed in consultation with industry. These resources are a great reference for the apprentice or trainee as they are up to date and specific to their area of study.
MTA NSW includes a 2 week block of training in the start of the apprenticeship delivery. This training has been designed to provide our apprentices with essential non technical skills upfront, making them more productive as an apprentice for your business. This training will cover occupational health & safety, manual handling, identifying and using tools, communication, team work, dealing with conflict and environmental understanding.
MTA NSW’s approach to assessment is holistic in nature; our aim is to gain an overall picture of the individual’s competence. We generally assess each unit of competence via a combination of written answers, self assessment, third party assessment, oral questioning and observation/demonstration. We can however, customise the assessment process to meet an individual’s needs.
Continuous reporting of outcomes to you as employers, via letters or emails, gives you a clear understanding of where your apprentices’ are up to and how they are progressing.
