Members in attendance at the Wollongong and Nowra events recently

MTA NSW Member Information evenings provide an opportunity to stay ahead of industry trends and connect with your fellow Members.  MTA NSW thanks all our Members who made time to attend the recent information evenings at Wollongong and Nowra. By coming along and supporting these events, our Members were updated with the latest industry topics relevant to their needs.

We were really pleased with attendance at both events. We have been running these sessions across the State and this was certainly our most well attended to date,” said Gary O’Sullivan, MTA NSW Divisional Manager.

Both evenings provided an opportunity to recognise long standing Members present on the night. Combined, these Members shared over 107 year’s MTA NSW membership within the automotive industry.

MTA NSW would like to congratulate and thank the following Members for their continuous membership and support.

Nowra Toyota - 39 Years
South Coast Four Wheel Drive Centre Pty Ltd - 35 Years
Helensburgh Car Services 33 - Years

Highlights of the evening included MTA’s current industry wins with government including; the re-introduction of Restricted Licensing, updated Uncollected Goods Act, motor dealer’s location restrictions lifted and exemptions for Tow Truck service technicians.

MTA NSW Senior Manager, Training Policy and Strategy, Matthew Webster welcomed Members to the “Find An Apprentice” online directory launched recently, connecting employers with apprentices in most automotive fields.

“MTA NSW Training courses offering flexible automotive training across NSW and ACT since 1996 was a hot topic of discussion, given our high rate of completions through an employment-based delivery mode, where training and assessment is conducted onsite. Our Members were queuing for more MTA NSW training information at both events,” said Matthew.

Benefits of MTA NSW Employment Relations (ER) services were emphasised including the advantage of; “saving potentially thousands in legal costs by approaching our ER team regarding; unfair dismissal and general protection or underpayment of wages claims therefore, removing the need to engage lawyers for legal representation,” said Albert Baumgartner, MTA NSW Employment Relations Manager.

MTAA Super’s Regional Growth Manager, Nick Holt spoke to the fee reductions for all members from 1st February 2019 saying; ‘the administration fee for all members will drop from $1.60 per week to $1.50 per week, a 6% annual saving while also reducing asset-based administration fees for pension accounts from 0.15% to 0.10% a 33% fee reduction.’ MTA NSW Business Partner, Capricorn was also in attendance as was Commonwealth Bank, with both giving short presentations.

Presentations were followed by lively Q & A sessions with one Member saying,

“Great evening, very informative. Well worth the drive from Goulburn for the evening.”
