World-leading legislation improves consumer choice and competition for Australian automotive repair and service
The long wait is over, today saw the Morrison Government introduce legislation into the Australian Parliament to establish a mandatory scheme for the sharing of motor vehicle service and repair information. This ground-breaking legislation will level the playing field for the automotive repair sector, increasing competition and consumer choice.
The combined efforts from both the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA) and the Motor Trades Association of Australia Limited (MTAA) today of introducing this world-leading legislation to the Australian Parliament is a huge win, not only for our Members but for the motor industry in general. The work now gets underway with the establishment of the Scheme Adviser and Scheme Rules in readiness for the start date of 1 July 2022.
