We wish to advise Members that the Newcastle Member Information Night scheduled on Wednesday 18th March at 6.00pm at Rydges Newcastle has been postponed. This follows on from the recent Federal Government advice that non-essential meetings should be cancelled to limit potential exposure to the COVID – 19 (Coronavirus), and being mindful that the health of your staff and our Members is of the utmost importance.

As you would be aware, the Federal Government recently announced an economic stimulus package in response to the current Coronavirus situation. This assistance is designed to support businesses to manage cash flow and help businesses retain their employees and are specifically designed to support small and medium businesses. Small businesses will also receive a wage subsidy for apprentices and trainees to help retain a skilled workforce.

As you would be aware, MTA NSW has been lobbying and working with the NSW Government since mid-2018 to introduce improvements to our Industry. This was done through the Better Business Reforms package (BBR) and the announcement of the statutory review for the Motor Dealers and Repairers Act 2013.

On Friday 21 February 2020, Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee joined Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey in Nambucca to announce a new initiative to help apprentices in bushfire and drought-affected areas.

Please find the following results of the recent MTA NSW Member Survey regarding the proposed acquisition by Gumtree of Cox Media Solutions (CarsGuide and AutoTrader). These survey results were formally submitted on 14th February 2020 and the MTA NSW Submission is now available for viewing on the ACCC Public Register on behalf of our Members.

MTA NSW remains hopeful that our Members and their families remain safe during this difficult period of the bushfire emergency, particularly in the Mid North Coast, New England, Hunter, Blue Mountains, South Coast and Snowy Mountain areas of NSW, where a natural disaster has been declared in certain Local Government Areas (LGA’s).

Eligible NSW seniors are paying for fuel with a new travel card available from the NSW Government. The prepaid Visa card provides seniors with $250 to ease the burden of travel costs and assist them in getting to and from essential services. The card is making it easier and more affordable for seniors to remain connected with family and friends.

Green Stamp is an environmental program run through the Motor Trade Associations for all businesses within the automotive industry to help achieve environmental compliance and beyond. The Program assists business owners by incorporating processes and practices that avoid, reduce, reuse, recycle and dispose of waste in an environmentally sensitive manner.
